At Lutheran Senior Services (LSS), our mission of Older Adults Living Life to the Fullest is at the heart of everything we do. This manifests in many ways – big and small. And sometimes even ends up earning recognition. Heisinger Bluffs, an LSS Life Plan Community in Jefferson City, Missouri, recently received second place in the Spirit Award from the International Council on Active Aging’s Active Aging Week.
Active Aging Week took place last fall and Heisinger Bluffs kept residents active with activities built around the dimensions of wellness. Organized activities include dementia, fall prevention, and color psychology classes; a scavenger hunt; mystery of the Active Ager Social; brain games; and a comedy show. Residents enjoyed the week so much it was extended for an entire month dedicated to actively aging.
Heisinger Bluffs was chosen to receive the award from among 20 other communities internationally for how the community challenges the perception of aging.
