Lutheran Senior Services Affordable Housing Communities Earn National Community of Quality® Certification

January 29, 2024 – St. Louis, Missouri – Lutheran Senior Services (LSS), as well as seven of their Affordable Housing Communities, has received recognition from the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA).

Through the Communities of Quality® (COQ) National Recognition and their Corporate Partner program, affordable multifamily rental properties and their parent organization can be certified as having achieved this high standard based on six criteria: Physical Inspections; Employee Credentials; Financial Management; Programs and Services; Endorsements; and Photographs and Reports. Applicants must score a minimum total of 225 points in these categories to receive recognition.

“We are very excited to show the quality of housing our communities offer! The minimum score required to achieve this designation is 225 and our communities scored an average of 345,” said Nikki Jennings LSS Executive Director of Affordable Housing.

NAHMA recognized that Dunn Road Manor, Halls Ferry Manor, Hilltop Manor, Hylton Point Apartments, Hylton Point Apartments II, Rose Hill House, and The Village at Mackenzie Place each provide the highest-quality affordable housing to lower-income residents while adding value to the larger community. They scored high on inspection by an objective reviewer and on the quality of management reviews, audits, replacement reserves, and other criteria. Team members were judged on their credentials, such as those earned through NAHMA (e.g., a Certified Professional of Occupancy, a National Affordable Housing Professional or a Housing Credit Certified Professional) or by credentials awarded by other industry associations or organizations.

“These Lutheran Senior Services Affordable Housing communities and their organization as a whole are among the select few that have achieved the very highest standard of excellence in property management and in the provision of services to lower-income families. These services enable residents to attain high levels of self-sufficiency and success in their lives and for their families. The work done by Lutheran Senior Services is a credit to its entire community,” commented Kris Cook, CAE, Executive Director of NAHMA.

“This designation reflects the commitment and dedication of our team members who come to work each day to help older adults live life to the fullest,” Jennings said. “I offer my most sincere thanks and congratulations to each team member.”
