Lutheran Senior Services Names New Chief Operating Officer

February 1, 2023, St. Louis, Missouri – After an extensive search, Lutheran Senior Services (LSS) has selected a new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Ron Schaefer will officially begin his role with LSS on February 6, 2023.

With more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit senior living management, Ron is a highly respected organizational and operational leader with key skills in the areas of strategy, communications, leadership, and organizational integrity.

“We are thrilled to round out our executive team with the addition of Ron,” said Adam Marles, LSS President & CEO. “He brings exceptional knowledge, leadership experience, and passion for serving older adults that will further accelerate the LSS legacy of excellence in services and care. Ron will have an immediate impact as we move toward our goal to transform the delivery of aging services.”

Previously, Ron served as the COO of Front Porch in Glendale, California. He also served as the COO of Covia until its acquisition by Front Porch.

In addition to his extensive experience in the Life Plan Community (LPC) segment of senior living, he has a strong track record in Affordable Housing and in Community-Service programs.

“LSS has an impressive 160+ year legacy of excellent quality in senior living and care,” Schaefer said.  “I look forward to building on that and helping them evolve to meet the needs of current and future customers in the aging services sector.”

Ron has taught in the University of Southern California’s Davis School of Gerontology Master’s degree program, including the core courses Current Issues in Senior Living and Emerging Consumer Trends. His holds a BA in chemistry and math from Southern California College and a Master’s of Healthcare Administration from Chapman University with an emphasis in business administration.
