U.S. News Ranks Lutheran Senior Services Communities “Best Senior Living”

April 16, 2024, St. Louis, Missouri – For the second consecutive year, all eight Lutheran Senior Services (LSS) Life Plan Communities (LPC) earned “Best” ratings in the 2024 U.S. News & World Report Best Senior Living analysis.

Each LSS community earned top honors for at least one of the four types of services evaluated – Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Continuing Care Retirement Community, also called a “Life Plan Community.” Only 43% of the nearly 4,000 communities that U.S. News evaluated earned a “Best” rating for even one service type. Notably, several LSS communities won “Best” for multiple categories, with a total of 21 awards.

“This is an exceptional achievement for each of our communities, as the ratings were derived from direct feedback from our residents and their families,” said Adam Marles, President & CEO of LSS. “We remain committed to delivering world-class care and experiences tailored to the diverse needs and desires of older adults, so they may live life to the fullest.”

The survey yielded such comments from residents as, “You feel safe. You make meaningful friends. You will say many times, ‘I wish we would have done this sooner.’ Your days will be as full as you want.” The survey gathered input on the things that matter most to residents and their families – kindness of team members, variety of activities, dining experiences, whether local transportation is provided, the quality of on-site care, and more. The top-rated communities for each level of care amongst all senior living communities who participated received a “Best Senior Living” designation.

“Receiving this recognition for two consecutive years illustrates that we are delivering on our promise to create places, services, and opportunities for people to age well with purpose and fulfillment,” said Ron Schaefer, LSS Chief Operating Officer. “A core LSS value is to ‘bring your best self to work,’ and these results reflect that our team members are living that.”

To be included in the U.S. News analysis, senior living communities participated in the survey between April and November 2023 and had to meet certain eligibility criteria. Activated Insights, a nationally recognized research organization, conducted the online survey and the confidential data gathered was used by U.S. News & World Report, known for its influential rankings, to rate U.S. senior living brands.
